A Message from Ms. B:
I think the end of school year countdown can officially begin…we try not to start too early. The more I write out the events of the year, the more I realize that the end is fast approaching. 18 more days? I overheard a teacher lamenting that they didn’t complete the textbook this year. I can honestly say that after the first 4 years of teaching, I gave up “finishing” the textbook.
The 8th grade, their teachers, and I went to the Holocaust exhibit at the Cinti Museum Center on Monday. It was very informative and I hope that we can continue to book this short but meaningful lesson every year. What an experience! We are planning to book a virtual interview/ speaking engagement with a Holocaust survivor. (We were supposed to meet in person but he was ill on Monday.)
Wednesday we inducted some of Lourdes’ scholars into the National Junior Honor Society. Congrats to those students who exhibit leadership, knowledge, and service. We will continue to provide Opportunities for Learning, Leading, and Serving. We also watched the 8th grade perform Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This was the first time the 8th grade Drama class performed a play, with a double cast. I was so impressed with everyone’s performance and effort. Plus, there were some very funny lines!
Last Friday, David Fitzsimmons presented his Curious Critters books to the Kindergarten-third grade students. He showed us how he took the pictures of some of nature’s smallest animals and creatures. The students enjoyed hearing about the various bugs, snakes, and birds special talents.
While we are having lots of fun as learning moments, we also need to be aware that we are still in school. Dress code should be followed unless noted and good behavior choices should still be observed.
This is an exciting time for students but it can also be a stressful time too. There are lots of changes to our daily schedules and routines in order to do everything we would like for our students. Please encourage your students to finish strong and as the best student they can be.
