A Message from Ms. B:
There is nothing better than a new pair of shoes on the first day of school: they are shiny and perfect, free from any scuff marks. However, they might not be as comfortable as the old pair we left in the closet. Now that we have new shoes, we can’t just slip into the worn, imperfect shoes and we have work hard at keeping the new shoes looking “new”. For some of our families and students, this year is a “new pair of shoes” and the comfort of their previous school is left “in the closet”. I want to thank those families who have reached out to help our new families with the details unique to OLL. We have great families who will gladly take you under their wing if you still need some help with how to do things at OLL. Please don’t hesitate to call the office or ask your teachers (although we do have some new teachers too!). One thing I have to ask: Please read what’s in the Friday Folder and return those items we need from the Parent Packet! We are mindful of your time but most info we ask for is for your student’s health and safety. This week we will be sending home the free/reduced forms, which are extremely important! Please keep those affected by Hurricane Dorian in your thoughts and prayers. Have a great week! Ms B
After Care will be starting Monday, August 26. The hours run from 2:30-6:00pm. There is a $25 registration fee, then $12 per day is tuition and snack for your student. A fee is assessed for late pick-up. If there is a chance you may need After Care, please register so we have your student’s medical information ready for Mrs. Densford (or Ms. Melisa as the students call her!) and Mrs. Schmidt. If you have questions or need registration materials, please contact Mrs. Densford at email@example.com.
From the Parish Office:
Harvest Home Parade is quickly approaching. On Thursday, September 5th, we are to meet at Bridgetown and Robb by 5:30 to line up. The parade starts at 6:00. All parents and children are invited and encouraged to walk in the parade. Teachers will do their best to avoid assigning homework that evening and sports practices should be canceled. We are asking all students/parents to wear OLL Spiritwear, team jerseys or their school uniform. One Parent/Guardian needs to stay with their student throughout the parade. We hope to see you there!
From the Ways and Means Hot Lunch Committee:
Tiger Families, Please double check your student's homeroom when ordering hot lunch for the first time. If you don't update it, it could result in your student NOT getting lunch on Friday, Skyline Day!
From the School Nurse, Nurse Alex:
Dear Parents, Due to the number of pediculosis (head lice) cases that were reported in the area over the summer, the school nurse will begin screening all students at Lourdes for head lice starting Friday 8/30/19. To check at home and see if there are nits (eggs) and lice in your child’s hair: · Use a strong light so you can see nits on the hairs or lice on the scalp. · Use a comb to separate the hair. · Check the whole head with attention to the area behind the ears and back of the head above the collar. If you notice any nits or lice in your child(ren) hair, please let the school office and school nurse know. Your child’s confidentiality will be protected. Attached is a fact sheet about lice, how it is treated and prevention measures. Please note that lice can begin anywhere from a few days up to several weeks after exposure. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school nurse at 513-347-2660 ext 3034. She can also be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your cooperation
