A Message from Ms. B:
It’s such a beautiful day today and I am soaking in the quiet solitude before the controlled chaos begins Thursday. I guess it’s time to get into the swing of things because the alarm will be deafening on Monday morning! Teachers start Monday with professional development and we are learning a lot of things that will help your students in their academic growth and progress as well as their health and safety. Our goal every year is to ensure our students are prepared for the next school year and eventually high school. This is a tall order but with your help and partnership, it is a shared weight on our shoulders. We are excited to work with you another year in educating your student and helping with their faith formation.
I have included in this edition, the names of the faculty and staff as well as the classes they teach in order to make Meet the Teacher a little easier for families. If you have several students who attend Lourdes, families might consider visiting their youngest teachers first. We will have information from OLLAC, Girl Scouts, and other activities available to your student.
Helpful Hints:
Start a regular bed time now! You would be surprised how much this helps with the transition and lessening your student’s anxiety.
Make sure you have uniforms that fit and are the right length, including gym uniforms.
Do you have school supplies, schoolbag, lunchbox?
Are your students’ health records up to date?
If you receive your Edchoice acceptance letter, please bring that in to school as soon as possible. Mrs. DiTullio will also be available during Meet the Teacher to help with this.
The office will be closed on Monday from 9:30-1:00 for staff training. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
I certainly hope you enjoy the beautiful weekend because next week it gets hot again! Here’s hoping for an exciting first week and great school year.
Peace, Ms. B
Go Tigers! Go Tigers! Go Tigers!
Forgotten Items and Lunches
Starting in the 2023-2024 school year, we will not be delivering forgotten items to classrooms during the school day, including lunches. This is a disruption to the classroom and learning atmosphere. We know you will help us empower your students while teaching them responsibility, organization, and time management. Should your student forget their lunch, Ms. Densford can provide a few items and will send a $3 bill home for the lunch.
Transportation Update for School Year
Don’t forget that construction will be occurring on Muddy Creek during the school day, Monday-Friday. Their disruption will hopefully, be minimal. There could be some unforeseen hiccups with dismissal since their workday doesn’t wrap up until 4:30pm. We will do our best to work through the process. CPS bussing is with the Peterman Bus Co. We have met Ms. Keita and Ms. Nadia and both are ready to transport our students. Because we share transportation with St. Antoninus, our students will be dropped off at 7:20 and picked up from school at 2:25pm.
Don’t forget your Summer Bridge Books: Students in Ms. Bruemmer’s classes and any students in grades 4-7 who have a summer bridge book: Finish the book, get a week out of dress code this fall when we come back!
